What do you need to integrate a sex offender API into your software?

A challenge many businesses have is providing a safe work environment for their people. Chief among these threats is making sure all new hires and individuals are checked to ensure they aren’t on any registered sex offender lists. This can be daunting since the federal and state sex offender registries largely do not support API Integration. Luckily, services like OffenderList’s sex offender API make this a possibility for businesses and organizations needing the service.

Most businesses have software platforms or other internal programs that can push and pull data which includes lists of their people to a server on OffenderList for regular monitoring. However, some businesses do not have the automated internal structure to do this. In this case, OffenderList offers a manual batch processing service through which you can upload Excel files, CSVs and other database files to have OffenderList check all the names on your list for potential matches and report back.

The data you need to get started is rather simple. Unlike background checks which require extensive, sensitive data such as social security numbers, phone numbers, drivers license numbers, addresses and more.

OffenderList requires a simple set of data:

  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • Date of Birth.
  • That’s it!

If you have this information you can begin the process of monitoring your people for safety threats. Of course, OffenderList’s sex offender API does allow you to narrow and refine even further if you desire.

You can narrow your sex offender API searches by using other data points such as:

  • State
  • Zip Code
  • City
  • Latitude
  • Longitude
  • And more.

Getting started is easy enough. All you’ll need is an OffenderList account and a token which gives you access to our sex offender API for calls and searches from name matches to zip code and other area searches. If you’re in need of our sex offender batch processing service instead, we can provide you the details and account you need to do this.
